GAMMA PHI CHAPTER
Kappa Alpha Order (K.A.) at the University of Louisiana – Lafayette was originally a local fraternity called Alpha Sigma Kappa (ASK) founded in 1931 at what was then called Southwestern Louisiana Institute (S.L.I.).
On October 20, 1959 to petition Kappa Alpha Order for a charter. On April 6, 1960 the members were notified they had received a vote of approval from the five Louisiana chapters: Psi (1882) @ Tulane, Alpha Gamma (1885) @ L.S.U., Alpha Iota (1891) @ Centenary, Gamma Alpha (1947) @ Louisiana Tech, and Gamma Nu (1956) @ Northeastern State.
On December 2, 1960 we were presented with our charter as Gamma Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order.
